This is the fifth textbook on methodology which I have written or edited since 1985. Everyone knows that research methods texts often sell well but that is hardly an excuse to write yet another one. So you may properly ask: what has this book to offer? The brief answer is that, in my view, research students still lack a singly authored, ‘hands-on’, practical guide to the business of doing qualitative research, writing it up and making use of it. This is what this book sets out to do.
